SD Freedom Caucus Supports Governor’s Stand to Protect American Farmland

Rapid City, S.D. (July 17, 2025) – The South Dakota Freedom Caucus applauds Governor Larry Rhoden and 11 America-First governors for signing a letter to USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins supporting the National Farm Security Action Plan. This bold initiative protects U.S. farmland from foreign adversaries, including banning future purchases of agricultural land by foreign nationals and clawing back existing holdings—a critical step to defending our food supply and national security.

By aligning with the Trump administration’s USDA plan, it will demonstrate that American land belongs in American hands and NOT in the pockets of foreign investors.

The Freedom Caucus urges South Dakotans and policymakers alike to back these farmland protections. We commend Governor Rhoden’s decision to sign this letter and call on other federal lawmakers to follow his example by supporting the National Farm Security Action Plan.
